Carroll
Farms is a fourth generation family operation farming over 2,000
acres of land. 250
acres of peaches are grown on this West Central Georgia farm located outside
the small town of Woodbury.
T.H. Carroll was
considered one of the largest and most prominent peach growers in
Georgia during the 1950s
and 1960s. He downsized the operation
when a fire destroyed the commercial packing house in the late
1970s.
Today, his daughter Kay
Carroll Barnes, and grandson Hynes Barnes, work together to ensure
Carroll Farms produces the freshest fruit available. Each peach is
hand-picked and packed at a shed located three miles north of
Woodbury. Over 25 varieties are harvested from late May until late
August and sold to grocery chains, roadside markets and individuals. |
